While viewing a large raft of Common Eiders off the coast of Cape Spear, Newfoundland, I spotted a different color among them. Even with binoculars, the distance was so great that I couldn't confirm the sighting until I got home and downloaded the pictures. Just as I thought, one single male King Eider was there mixed among several hundred Common Eiders.
This is the only one that I have seen so far. I will continue to try to get some decent pictures of this grand bird.
