The American Pipit is a common visitor to Newfoundland during breeding season. I have seen a few postings of Pipits this year but not many. I came upon this little, sparrow-size American Pipit in a hay field. I noticed some small birds that led me to stop. The other birds got away but this one remained in the field.
It was a long way from me but as luck would have it, the sun was shining and I was able to get the couple of records. If I get better shots in the future, I will upload them.
I returned to the field a day or so later but there was no sign of this bird. I will keep checking over the next few days.
