It should only take about an hour and fifteen minutes to drive from St. John's to Renews, but what birder can do that?
While the destination is usually Bear Cove Point Road, there are so many places to stop along the way, and then of course, there is the compulsion to stop every time a bird flies across the road. It easily takes a day to bird the southern shore from here to there. There hasn't been much interesting reported in the area, but today there was mention of the possibility of a nightjar being seen. Well, that's it...gotta go check it out for the third time this summer. Wish us luck!
