As if small birds aren't hard enough to find these day, add the complication of the hungry Northern Shrike.
I had a very distant look at this Northern Shrike just at the entrance into the small community of Blackhead. This juvenile sat bolt upright, making it hard to miss him.
It has been exciting to see all of the birders out and busy looking for birds in and around St. John's. On any given outing I meet up with five or more birders. The helpful tips and assistance offered to ensure that as many people as possible see the migrating birds that are currently hiding away in the nooks and crannies around town has been great!
