Crimson-ringed Whiteface Dragonfly

All the images of the Crimson-ringed Whiteface dragonfly shown here were taken during the month of July 2013 and 2014. The best chance to see it is now.
This pair, clasped in a mating ring, was photographed at Murphy's Pond off Power's Road. It is very helpful for identification when a pair is engaged. I find the females often more difficult to identify because the field marks of the male are often more distinct and are the basis for the name.
I found it interesting this Crimson-ringed was having spider for lunch.
